“I had the diagnosis of a stage 4 brain tumor and had given birth to twins. I wanted the time I had left to be as stress free as possible. Bella came to my rescue. She appeared like a glorious breath of fresh air ready to give me time to rest and recover after the birth.  She cared for my twins while I slept, made me nutritious food, did the jobs I couldn’t do and intuitively knew what I needed next. I did mixed feeding . She made up bottles, fed my babies and supported me with breast feeding. Most of all, it was her kindness and unconditional understanding that was priceless."

"I came home from hospital completely shell shocked after a difficult birth.  I was tearful and exhausted.   My parents live abroad and my partner had to go back to work. I felt alone and completely unequipped for what lay ahead.  Bella was truly a blessing.  She made me feel confident that I could “do this.”  She seemed to know just what I needed which was just someone to listen to me!  Some months later, I asked for her help again.  My son wouldn’t settle or sleep for more than 30 mins day and night and my partner and I were exhausted.  She gently showed me how to get him into a routine which was such a relief, and he now sleeps really well.  I’m not quite sure how she does it but She really is the “Baby Whisperer”.

What does a Postnatal Doula do?

A postnatal doula provides practical, emotional, and educational support to families during the weeks and months after a baby is born. They help with newborn care, assist with feeding (breast or bottle), offer guidance on soothing and settling, and provide reassurance as parents adjust to life with a new baby. Postnatal doulas may also support the household by preparing meals, light tidying, or caring for older siblings, allowing parents time to rest and recover. Their goal is to nurture the whole family, helping parents build confidence and feel supported during the postpartum period.
